Why understanding the cost of cryonics matters
Cryonics isn’t just about science — it’s also a commitment. When people ask “how much does cryonics cost?”, they’re really asking whether this future-facing choice is practical, accessible, and worth it.
The good news? Cryonics is more financially achievable than many expect — especially when funded through life insurance, which is how most members plan their coverage.
Average cryonics costs: full-body vs. neuro
Prices vary depending on the provider and type of preservation. Estimated Cost
- Full-body cryopreservation ~ $28,000-2$200,000
- Brain only ~$80,000

How do most people pay for cryonics?
Most members don’t pay out-of-pocket. Instead, they use a life insurance policy to fund their cryopreservation.
Here’s how it works:
- You take out a life insurance policy with a death benefit of the price of the cryopreservation service
- You name your cryonics provider (e.g., Tomorrow.bio) as the beneficiary.
- When you pass away, the policy pays out and covers the full cost of preservation.
For a healthy adult in their 30s or 40s, monthly premiums can be as low as €30–€50/month, depending on location and policy type.
Why is full-body cryopreservation more expensive?
Full-body cryopreservation preserves every part of the body — not just the brain. The reason of the higher cost is mainly a storage problem, you need more space and liquid nitrogen to preserve the entire body. This includes:
- Organs that may be repairable or replaceable in the future
- Immune and hormonal systems
- The full connectome (all neural pathways), including the spinal cord
- Potential future regenerative options like cloned tissue or whole-body therapy
Are there other factors that affect the cost?
Some companies advertise lower base prices, but these may exclude essential services such as:
- Emergency medical standby
- International transport
- Storage beyond a set term
- Legal documentation and logistics
Be sure to compare total cost, not just the sticker price.
Tomorrow.bio’s pricing is all-inclusive and fixed, so you know exactly what you're getting — and that your preservation is covered for the long term.
What about pet cryopreservation?
Cryonics isn't just for humans. Some providers also offers pet cryopreservation, allowing you to preserve your animal companion using the same scientific process.
Costs vary by animal size and species, but the pricing is generally much lower than human preservation. You can estimate our cost using our pet price calculator.

Is it worth it?
That’s a personal question — and one that only you can answer.
Some people spend more on cars, vacations, or funerals than they would on cryopreservation. But none of those offer the chance, however slim, to live again.
Cryonics doesn’t promise revival. But it offers something no other option does: preserving your body and mind until science might have another solution.
Planning early saves money — and stress
The earlier you plan, the lower your insurance premiums, and the smoother your preparation process. Planning in advance also ensures your wishes are clear — legally and ethically.
